A citizen's right to vote is one of our most cherished rights. Citizens need to inform themselves and VOTE IN BOTH THE PRIMARY ELECTION IN AUGUST AND THE GENERAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER. Both elections are important and affect your everyday life.

Primary elections - August - when school board members, city commissioners, county commissioners*, ballots from municipalities are usually voted on
General elections - November - when mostly state and federal offices are elected but can be city or county if needed

All voters should keep these points in mind:

-
Know election dates and candidates and be sure you vote in both the Primary and General Elections
-
Be sure you are registered to vote and have requested Vote by Mail in time for the Primary

*It doesn't happen often in Martin County, but when there is more than one candidate in a party, the Primary decides that party's candidate and that throws the election between Republican and Democratic candidates (as well as other minor party candidates) to the General Election in November.
