Resolved October 17th 2011:
The Martin County Democratic Party is standing with Occupy Wall Street.
Whereas:
The message of Occupy Wall Street is the message of the American people.
No longer may the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street. It's time for these policy pampered millionaires, billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share.
In doing so we are standing against economic policies that hurt the middle class and working families while protecting financial and tax loopholes for multi-millionaires and corporations.
Bill Clinton on Republican Efforts to Suppress Voter Rights:
"There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today."

One of the complaints leveled against the Democratic leadership in DC is about negotiating strategy. Generally, the complaint is that the Democratic leadership in Congress and in the White House make opening bids that are already compromises, which results in final legislative deals skewing further to the right than necessary.
Whether or not you agree with that complaint in either the general or the specific, if it is applied to the budget fight the Democratic leadership in DC should have started with The People's Budget (PDF), which the Congressional Progressive Caucus introduced. It's a budget that produces a surplus by 2021 without cutting services for the poor and middle-class. It thus provides a stark contrast with the recent proposal by Rep. Paul Ryan, and a left-flank to the principles outlined by President Obama.
Here's a general overview of the People's Budget:
That is a very quick summary, and full details can be read here.
Fed up with the effects of the Supreme Court's decision to grant corporations the RIGHT to influence elections? Fed up with the Supreme Court's decision allowing money to be confused with "Free Speech"? Are you a person? Is Exxon-Mobil a person?
Did Thomas Jefferson write, "We the Corporations..." or "We the People..."?
If you are as fed , then click here to read about "Move to Amend", grass roots movement to reverse these policies.
Think About This:
Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush talked incessantly about fiscal responsibility and lost no opportunity to denounce deficit spending, but these principles flew out the window when it came time to cut taxes on the rich.
The new bunch are even worse. Incoming House Ways and Means Committee chair Dave Camp (R-Mich.) recently told George Will that one of the biggest problems with our tax system is that too few poor people pay income tax...Here and Here
