A contingent of Martin County Democratic Club
members attended the Politics and Pancakes Balance of Power Breakfast
on Saturday, May 27, at the Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter.

The event was sponsored by
the North Palm Beach County Coalition for Democracy,
which includes the Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens area
Democratic Clubs. Jim Annello, president
of the Jupiter club, gave special introductions of
Louise Cunha, our Martin County Democratic Club President,
and Dave Dew, DEC Chair,
as well as recognizing
our group.

The VIP table was made up of Palm Beach
County officials and numerous Democratic candidates
for local, state and federal
office. Each
candidate introduced themselves, giving Catherine Hilton
a chance to be seen by the voters in her District 82
south of the Martin County line.
Gubernatorial Candidate Rod Smith
Speakers included Tim
Mahoney, candidate for Congressional District 16, and
Ron Klein, currently a State Senator
from West Palm Beach, running
to unseat Republican.Clay Shaw for Congress District
22. Rod Smith and Jim Davis, both of our Democratic
gubernatorial candidates spoke on their
ideas for change on the state level.

The Keynote Speaker
was John Crawford, an Iraqi War veteran and author
of The Last True Story I’ll Ever Tell, chronicling his experiences
as a National Guardsman in Baghdad. He gave us a picture
of the war that we do not hear about from the news or the Whitehouse.
