Pollwatcher Form

Poll Watchers needed for Election Day.

Many Democratic poll watchers are needed for the General Election on Tue, Nov 4, especially for the peak voting times of 7:00am - 9:00am and 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

NOTE: Poll Watchers are party volunteers who observe the polls for any problems or irregularities. This is different from a Poll Worker (which is a paid position from the Supervisor of Elections Office to work at the polls on election day).

If you can volunteer to be a Democratic Poll Watcher on Nov 4, please fill the following form:

We can convince everyone to vote OBAMA but if the election is stolen at the polls, where are we? We need Democratic eyes & ears at every precinct during this election to make sure that this doesn't happen.

Democratic Poll Watchers are needed both to cover the early voting sites and at all precincts throughout the county on Election Day, November 4. Unfortunately, to serve as a poll watcher is not something which can be agreed to at the last minute. We need to have volunteers certified with the Supervisor of Elections in advance of the election.

What do poll watchers do?? As a poll watcher you watch. You make sure that the voting machines work in our precincts; that the machines start at zero; that no on line to vote at 7:00 PM is told that the polls have closed & they can't vote (or to come back tomorrow to vote-- yes, people were told that in '04!); that no voter is intimidated; that ALL voters get to vote. AND, if there are any irregularities during the day, you notify the Legal Team immediately so that we can get the problem fixed.

For some, it is a full day commitment; for some only a couple of hours. But we desperately need your help. No previous experience is required -- all Poll Watchers will attend a 45-minute training session to learn what to do and look for. Trainings will take place on weeknights & weekends during the month of October. All efforts will be made to have you do your Poll Watching in the precinct of your choice or at one nearby.

POLL WATCHERS ARE NEEDED FOR MINIMUM 3-HOUR SHIFTS DURING THE FOLLOWING PERIODS:
(Note: if you can only take a 3-hour shift, we ask you to please cover the heaviest 3-hour periods when the polls first open or before they close.

Early Voting: Monday, October 20 - Sunday, November 2.
Polls Open: Mon-Fri: 10 AM-6PM; Sat & Sun: 10AM-2PM

Election Day: Tuesday, November 4.
Polls Open: 7:00AM-7:00PM

DEADLINE FOR EARLY VOTING POLL WATCHER APPLICATIONS: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3
DEADLINE FOR ELECTION DAY POLL WATCHER APPLICATIONS: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16
